Frequently Asked Questions
Explore common questions about The Hara Collective and our whole-person philosophy.
Our work explores the connection between the physical, emotional and energetic - creating space to look beyond individual symptoms and understand the deeper patterns and connections within your experience.
Homeopathy
What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine that considers the individual person rather than focusing only on isolated symptoms.
A homeopathic consultation may explore your physical wellbeing, emotions, lifestyle, sensitivities, temperament, experiences and the individual patterns that form your overall picture.
Homeopathic remedies are selected according to this individual picture.
How does homeopathy work?
Homeopathy is based on the principle of "like supports like" - the idea that a substance capable of producing certain symptoms in a healthy person may, when prepared homeopathically, be selected for someone experiencing a similar symptom picture.
Rather than matching a remedy only to the name of a condition, homeopathy considers the individual way symptoms are experienced, including physical, mental and emotional characteristics.
Is homeopathy personalised?
Yes. Individualisation is central to homeopathy.
Two people experiencing a similar concern may be recommended different remedies because remedy selection considers the individual person - including their symptoms, emotions, triggers, sensitivities, history and overall patterns.
Why can two people with the same symptoms receive different remedies?
Homeopathy looks at how each person individually experiences what is happening.
For example, two people may both experience a seasonal cold, yet their physical sensations, temperature, thirst, energy, emotions and what makes them feel better or worse may be completely different.
These individual characteristics help guide remedy selection.
What are homeopathic remedies made from?
Homeopathic remedies are traditionally prepared from substances including plants, minerals and other natural sources.
They undergo a specific preparation process involving serial dilution and succussion (rhythmic shaking), according to homeopathic pharmacy methods.
Can I take homeopathic remedies alongside medications, herbs or supplements?
Many people use homeopathy alongside nutrition, supplements, herbal medicine and conventional healthcare.
During your consultation, we discuss what you are currently taking so this can be considered within your individual picture.
Always continue prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by the healthcare professional responsible for your medical care.
Can emotions be explored within homeopathy?
Yes. Emotional wellbeing can form part of the individual homeopathic picture.
A consultation may explore emotional patterns, stress responses, fears, relationships, significant experiences and the way you respond to different circumstances, alongside your physical symptoms and health history.
Consultations
What is The Deeper Picture?
The Deeper Picture is our comprehensive consultation for ongoing, recurring or layered concerns.
Rather than focusing on one symptom at a time, we explore the connections between your physical health, emotional landscape, nervous system, experiences, environment, lifestyle and recurring or inherited patterns.
Your consultation may explore:
-
physical symptoms + health history
-
emotional patterns
-
nervous system + stress
-
sleep + energy
-
digestion
-
hormonal + cyclical patterns
-
significant life experiences
-
environment + lifestyle
-
sensitivities + individual tendencies
-
recurring or inherited patterns
Together, these details help build a deeper understanding of your individual picture.
Personalised support may draw from homeopathy and other holistic modalities where appropriate.
What is The Remedy?
The Remedy is focused homeopathic support for something recent or short-term.
Rather than selecting a remedy based on the symptom alone, we explore the individual way you are experiencing what is happening.
This may include:
-
when + how your symptoms began
-
physical sensations
-
what makes things better or worse
-
temperature
-
thirst + appetite
-
sleep + energy
-
emotional changes
-
anything particularly unusual or characteristic
These details help build your individual acute picture and guide homeopathic remedy selection.
What is the difference between The Remedy and The Deeper Picture?
The Remedy focuses on something happening now - a recent, short-term concern where focused homeopathic remedy guidance is needed.
The Deeper Picture creates more time to explore ongoing, recurring or layered concerns and the broader connections between your physical, emotional and individual patterns.
If something has been present for a long time, keeps returning or appears connected to a wider pattern, The Deeper Picture is generally the more appropriate place to begin.
What happens during a consultation?
Your consultation begins with your story.
Depending on the type of appointment, we may explore your current concerns, health history, emotions, stress patterns, lifestyle, sleep, digestion, energy, hormonal patterns, sensitivities, significant experiences and recurring patterns.
You don't need to know which details are important before you arrive.
We begin with what is present and explore from there.
Which consultation should I choose?
The Deeper Picture
Choose this if you want to explore ongoing, recurring or layered concerns and understand the broader connections within your individual picture.
The Remedy
Choose this for something recent or short-term where focused homeopathic guidance is needed.
The Revisit
For existing clients returning after The Deeper Picture or The Remedy to review what has shifted and determine what may be appropriate next.
Hara Alchemy
Choose this if you are drawn to an in-person Energy + Frequency Medicine experience centred around energetic, emotional and somatic exploration.
What is The Revisit?
The Revisit is follow-up care for existing clients.
Rather than beginning again, we return to your previous picture and explore what has changed, what hasn't and anything new that may have emerged.
There are two options:
The Remedy Follow-Up - for continued support relating to the same concern previously explored during The Remedy.
The Deeper Picture Follow-Up - for clients returning after The Deeper Picture to explore changes within their broader individual picture.
Do you offer online consultations?
Yes.
The Deeper Picture, The Remedy and The Revisit are available online, allowing you to access consultations from Australia or internationally.
The Hara Collective is based in Melbourne, Australia.
Hara Alchemy is an in-person experience and is not currently offered online.
How do I receive homeopathic remedies after an online consultation?
Following your consultation, we will discuss any homeopathic remedies selected and the appropriate way for you to access them.
This may include posting remedies where available or directing you towards an appropriate homeopathic supplier.
How long are consultations?
Appointment length depends on the service you choose.
The Remedy is a shorter, focused consultation for recent concerns.
The Deeper Picture allows more time to explore your broader individual picture.
The Revisit provides follow-up time according to the consultation you previously completed.
Hara Alchemy is a 75-90 minute in-person experience.
How many appointments will I need?
There is no predetermined number of appointments.
Some people seek support for something short-term, while others choose to return over time.
Follow-up appointments allow us to review what has changed and consider what - if anything - may be appropriate next.
Children + Families
Do you work with babies and children?
Yes.
Children's consultations consider the individual child, which may include:
-
physical symptoms
-
sleep patterns
-
temperament
-
sensitivities
-
fears
-
emotional expression
-
behaviour patterns
-
developmental stages
The intention is to understand the child's individual picture rather than looking only at the concern that brought them to the consultation.
Why do you ask about my child's personality?
Individual characteristics can be useful when building a homeopathic picture.
How a child responds to comfort, frustration, fear, change or new experiences may provide additional information alongside their physical symptoms.
Can I book for my whole family?
Yes, however each person requires their own consultation so their individual picture can be explored appropriately.
Women, Pregnancy + Motherhood
Do you offer consultations for women?
Yes.
Consultations may explore women's wellbeing through different seasons and transitions, including menstrual and cyclical patterns, emotional wellbeing, stress, preconception, pregnancy, postpartum and motherhood.
Each consultation considers your individual experiences and broader picture.
Do you offer consultations during pregnancy and postpartum?
Yes.
Consultations are available throughout preconception, pregnancy, postpartum and motherhood.
Pregnancy and postpartum care should always occur alongside your chosen medical and maternity healthcare providers.
Energy + Frequency Medicine
What is Energy + Frequency Medicine?
At The Hara Collective, Energy + Frequency Medicine describes the energetic and experiential side of our work.
It recognises that our experience can include more than what we consciously think or say - including body sensations, emotions, energetic awareness, patterns, instinct and our connection to ourselves.
This work is complementary and is not a replacement for medical or mental health care.
What is Hara Alchemy?
Hara Alchemy is a 75-90 minute, in-person Energy + Frequency Medicine experience.
It creates space to explore the relationship between body, emotion, energy and deeper patterns through a personalised energetic and somatic experience.
Rather than following a predetermined process, the session is shaped around what is present for you.
What happens during Hara Alchemy?
We begin with an opening conversation + intention.
From there, you move into a personalised energetic + somatic session, with modalities selected according to what is appropriate for you and what emerges during your time together.
Your session includes:
-
opening conversation + intention
-
personalised energetic + somatic session
-
space for integration + reflection
-
guidance following your session where appropriate
Some sessions may feel quiet and restorative, while others may involve deeper emotional exploration, body awareness, conversation or reflection.
Do I need to know what I want to explore before Hara Alchemy?
No.
You may arrive with a clear intention, a recurring pattern you would like to explore or simply a feeling that something is asking for your attention.
You don't need to know which modality you need.
We begin with what is present.
What is the difference between Hara Alchemy and The Deeper Picture?
Both recognise the connection between the physical, emotional and energetic, but they are different experiences.
The Deeper Picture is a comprehensive consultation exploring your symptoms, health history and broader individual patterns, followed by personalised holistic recommendations.
Hara Alchemy is an in-person, experiential space centred more deeply around energetic, emotional and somatic exploration.
You do not need to complete one before booking the other.
Is Hara Alchemy available online?
No.
Hara Alchemy is currently offered in person in Melbourne.
The Hara Collective Philosophy
What modalities do you work with?
The Hara Collective brings together physical, emotional and energetic ways of working.
Depending on the service and what is appropriate for you, support may draw from homeopathy, flower essences, tissue salts, holistic nutrition, herbal medicine, somatic and nervous system practices, energy work and other complementary modalities.
Not every modality is used for every person or every session.
The intention is not to fit you into a particular method, but to draw from what is relevant to your individual experience.
What are tissue salts?
Tissue salts are mineral preparations traditionally used within homeopathic systems.
They may be selected according to individual signs, characteristics and your broader wellness picture.
What are flower essences?
Flower essences are preparations traditionally used within complementary wellness practices, particularly in relation to emotional themes and self-awareness.
They may be selected around themes such as overwhelm, change, confidence, self-expression and periods of transition.
Why do you ask about emotions, memories and life experiences?
Because your story forms part of your individual picture.
Physical symptoms don't necessarily exist separately from everything else happening in your life.
Your experiences, emotions, stress responses and recurring patterns can provide context and help us understand the broader picture of what you are experiencing.
Is this the same as naturopathy?
No.
Homeopathy and naturopathy are distinct systems, although both may take a broad view of the individual.
The Hara Collective draws from multiple areas of holistic practice depending on the service, while homeopathy remains an important part of our consultation work.
Remedies + Using Homeopathy
How do I find the right homeopathic remedy for me?
Homeopathy is highly individualised.
Rather than choosing a remedy based only on a symptom or condition name, remedy selection considers how you individually experience what is happening.
Details such as physical sensations, what makes symptoms better or worse, sleep, temperature, thirst, emotions, sensitivities and other characteristic patterns can all help guide remedy selection.
A consultation allows these details to be explored within the context of your broader picture.
What information helps guide remedy selection?
Depending on what you're experiencing, useful information may include:
-
what makes symptoms better or worse
-
physical sensations
-
sleep
-
thirst + appetite
-
temperature preferences
-
emotional patterns
-
fears + worries
-
sensitivities
-
significant experiences
-
recurring patterns
-
family tendencies
Sometimes seemingly small or unusual details can help differentiate one homeopathic picture from another.
How do I take my homeopathic remedy?
Instructions are personalised according to the remedy and individual situation and will be discussed with you following your consultation.
Do not assume that the same dosing instructions apply to every remedy or every person.
Can I take more than one remedy?
This depends on your individual situation and the style of homeopathic prescribing being used.
Your recommendations will be discussed with you as part of your consultation rather than assuming that everyone requires the same number or combination of remedies.
How should I store homeopathic remedies?
Homeopathic remedies are traditionally stored:
-
in a cool, dry place
-
away from direct sunlight
-
according to any storage instructions supplied with the product
